What is Mylar?

Mylar is a thin, shiny film that is placed underneath parts of an embroidery design to create a beautiful sparkle and shimmer effect. Unlike metallic threads, Mylar adds shine without adding extra stitching, making it an easy way to give your embroidery a touch of elegance and dimension. The excess Mylar is simply torn away after stitching, leaving the sparkle visible through specially designed areas of the embroidery. If you prefer a softer, more traditional look, you can also stitch the design without Mylar and still achieve beautiful results.
